Miso Marinated Sablefish with Coconut Rice

Miso Marinated Sablefish with Coconut Rice

The coconut rice is what sets this one apart: cooked white rice stirred with coconut cream, a spoonful of sugar and salt. The sablefish arrives already miso-marinated, so scrape the excess off, sear the flesh side two minutes in an oven-safe skillet, then bake at 400°F to 135 to 140°F. Sliced cucumber alongside.

Miso Marinated Sablefish with Coconut Rice

Ingredients

blank

  • 3-4 cups cooked white rice

  • 2 tbsp coconut cream or milk

  • 1 tsp sugar or sweetener of choice

  • 1 tsp salt

blank

  • Sliced cucumber

Directions

  1. Cut open the miso marinated sablefish portions and place on a plate. With a butter knife or spatula, gently remove excess miso marinade off of the portions and dispose.

  2. Preheat the oven to 400°F.

  3. Heat an oven safe, lightly oiled skillet to medium high on your stove and place portions in skillet, skin side up. Sear flesh for approximately 2 minutes to caramelize the fish.

  4. Gently flip fish over, skin side down and then place skillet in oven to continue cooking.

  5. Bake until internal temperature is 135-140°F, approximately 15-18 minutes. The black cod should be flaking apart and have a nice caramelized top.

  6. While the sablefish cooks, mix the cooked rice with coconut cream or milk, sugar, and a tsp of salt.

  7. Serve the cooked sablefish with coconut rice and sliced cucumber.

  8. Enjoy!
