Weeknight Pan Seared Cod

Weeknight Pan Seared Cod

Wild Alaska cod goes from pan to plate in under fifteen minutes, with a golden crust and a tender, flaky center. Patting the fillets completely dry before they hit the hot oil is what helps that crust form. Serve with roasted vegetables, rice or a crisp salad.

Weeknight Pan Seared Cod

Ingredients

  • 4 Wild Alaska Cod fillets

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

  1. Pat cod fillets dry with paper towels (this helps achieve a golden crust).
  2. Season both sides with garlic powder, paprika (if using), salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil or butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot and shimmering.
  4. Place cod fillets in the skillet, presentation side down.
  5. Cook for 3–4 minutes, without moving, until a golden crust forms.
  6. Flip and cook another 2–3 minutes, until fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork (internal temp ~130°F).
  7. Transfer cod to plates, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top, and garnish with parsley.
  8. Pair with roasted vegetables, rice, or a crisp salad.
