I know you've heard about "The Mediterranean Diet." This diet become wildly popular in the 90's and is based off of the eating habits of Spain, Italy, and Greece back in the 1960's.

It is dominant in plants, unsaturated fats, oils, legumes, nuts, seeds, fish, and an overall balance of moderation and joy.

It is recommended by countless health and medical organizations, and has been the subject of well over 7,000 scientific studies. In general, this diet is 40% Carbohydrate (grains, legumes, fruits), 25% Protein (fish, eggs, greek style yogurts, little meats), and 35% Fat (oils, nuts, seeds, olives).

We recently shared with you "The Blue Zones", five places where there are the most centenarians and super-centenarians on earth. Specifically pertaining to the Mediterranean Diet, is Ikaria, the island in Greece that has an average age of death 10 years higher than the rest of the world. The IKARIA Study in 2009 really solidified the importance of a Mediterranean Style Diet and how it can impact Americans like us over 6,000 miles away.

All this is to say, EAT MORE FISH!

I absolutely LOVE the content on this site. I am a bit partial because I feel food is medicine! I love adding wild caught fish to my diet and wild game! Studies prove they are the highest in protein and least chemically altered. You can’t go wrong!

I see this as a very creative forum and I think its wonderful!

Side note ….. as a child I hated fish or wild game. As I turned 25 I started training for marathons, century bike rides and triathlons I became serious about the food I made and I discovered cooking is medicinal.

I Trained myself to eat fish,(sardine, salmon, clams, muscles, oysters and seafood,) (olives, yogurt, goats milk, rabbit, venison, bison, anything that’s foraged for itself) All of these things are great for your heart health! In fact there are times I know I need more fatty omegas my body just knows it.

~Side Note… Im a born and majority raised midwestern girl…. Check the facts about how many grams of protein (illinois corn fed venison) has to fish….. Both meats are some of the best to eat.

I do not go out to eat and a majority of the time I meal prep or cook all 3 meals fresh.

HOT TOPIC FOR ME——sorry for the soap box. …..

LOVE THIS SITE
