Gluten Free Classic Tuna Melt with Hero Bread

Ingredients

  • Premier Catch Canned Albacore Tuna

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a lighter option)

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tbsp finely chopped red onion

  • 1 tbsp finely chopped celery

  • 1 tbsp chopped dill pickles or relish

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 4 slices Hero Bread gluten-free sandwich bread

  • 1 tbsp butter or 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 slices sharp cheddar cheese

  • Optional: fresh tomato slices, avocado, or arugula for extra flavor

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the tuna, mayo, Dijon mustard, red onion, celery, and pickles. Mix well and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. Lay out the slices of Hero Bread. On two slices, evenly divide and spread the tuna mixture. Top each with a slice of cheddar cheese and any extras like tomato or avocado. Place the remaining slices of bread on top to make sandwiches.

  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter or a drizzle of olive oil. Grill the sandwiches for 2–3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  4. Slice in half and serve immediately with a side salad, sweet potato fries, or a pickle spear.
