    HOOK AND LINE

"Hook and line," also known as trolling, is a slow and selective method for catching king salmon. All of our Premier Catch king salmon is caught via "hook and line" in Southeast Alaska.

Trollers are typically smaller fishing vessels, operated by a small crew, that use a number of hooks and lines that trail behind the vessel at a low speed. Trolling is one of the most sustainable fishing methods, as it has a very low impact on marine habitats and a low rate of bycatch.

The volume of troll-caught fish is much smaller than net-caught fish. Troll-caught fish make up less than 10 percent of the total Alaska catch of all species of salmon. Due to the slow-paced and selective nature of trolling, the quality and freshness of troll-caught salmon is second to none. Each salmon is individually hauled aboard by hand, cleaned, washed and either iced or frozen at sea.

The small number of fish represented in the troll catch, combined with the outstanding quality, make them the most valuable, pound for pound, of all Alaska salmon. As with all of our products, we are proud to deliver you the highest quality, sustainably-caught king salmon available.
