The world is made up of 75% water, and our oceans provide so many amazing food sources, but in the U.S., there are three favorites when it comes to eating seafood. Here are the most consumed fish in the U.S:

1. Shrimp

Shrimp are low in calories yet extremely rich in protein and other nutrients. In a 3oz serving of shrimp, there is 20 grams of protein and only 80 calories. It is full of vitamin B12, calcium, iodine, phosphorus, selenium and omega-3 fatty acids. Shrimp pairs well with a wide variety of flavors and ingredients, making it easy to prepare and enjoy. Premier Catch currently offers Wild Alaskan Spot Prawns, and is excited to offer Wild Oregon Cold Water Shrimp soon!

2. Salmon

Salmon is extremely popular for its flavor and the ability to eat it raw in sushi and poke, or cooked. Salmon is also packed with protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin D. There are countless ways to prepare it. Some of the easiest and tastiest include grilled, air-fried, and pan seared. On the Premier Catch recipe blog, you will find tons of recipes for our Wild Alaskan Sockeye and King Salmon. We also have Smoked Alaskan King Salmon and melt-in-your-mouth Wild Smoked Salmon Dip perfect for appetizers or on toast in the morning!

3. Tuna

Tuna is the third most popular seafood in the U.S. for its flavor, health benefits, ease of preparation, and affordability. One of the most popular ways to eat tuna is the classic tuna sandwich but we also love tuna in salads, on toast, and in lettuce wraps. Tuna is packed full of lean protein and omega-3 fatty acids but still very low in calories. Our Canned Albacore Tuna is 100% Albacore caught off of the Oregon Coast and is not canned in water or oil… just its own natural oil! This is not your typical store bought tuna!

You may be surprised to hear that 85% of the seafood in America is imported. At Premier Catch, we are proud to source local seafood from American fishermen in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Not only is the fish extremely fresh and high quality, but it is also sustainable and supports the local fisherman and the American economy.
